the Sassoon Standard: Why It Matters to Us and You: by Tracy

If you’ve ever been in our chairs, you’ve probably heard one of us
mention training at Vidal Sassoon. But what does that really mean?
Vidal Sassoon opened his first salon in London in 1954 and went on to
revolutionize hairdressing. At a time when clients relied on weekly
salon visits and layers of hairspray he created geometric, precision
haircuts that were wearable, modern, and liberating. His work
empowered people to express themselves through tailored, low-
maintenance styles.
What truly sets him apart, though, is that he didn’t keep his techniques
to himself. He opened academies to train hairdressers across the world,
raising the bar for the entire industry. Sassoon education emphasizes
strong technical foundations, thoughtful design, and constant growth.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked for Vidal Sassoon for nine
years, most recently as Creative Director in Washington, DC. That
experience instilled in me a deep respect for craft, discipline, & creativity.
One of my favorite memories was our global “inter-salon soirées,”

where salons around the world would create photo collections based
on a shared theme—an exercise that united us through innovation and
artistry.
At Salon Concrete, I’m excited to bring that same energy and commit-
ment to our team and to you, our clients. We believe in the power of
a bespoken color and haircut, one that fits you, not just a trend. Our
Sassoon foundation allows us to deliver thoughtful, precise, and lasting
styles that help you feel confident and seen.
This commitment to excellence is part of everything we do and we’re
proud to share it with you every time you walk through our doors.
